A stroke changed Tedy Bruschi’s life. Now he’s running the Boston Marathon to help survivors

The former Patriots linebacker suffered a mild stroke in 2005. He recovered to play again, and since then Bruschi and his wife formed Tedy’s Team, which has 49 runners in the Marathon this year.

For the first time since the attacks at the Boston Marathon in 2013, the city will not hold a commemorative wreath-laying ceremony on Boylston Street this year, officials said.

Wreath-laying ceremony to honor victims of Marathon bombing will not be held this year

The reason is that Monday’s race falls on the anniversary of the bombings, April 15. The city will host a private breakfast for survivors and relatives of the victims Monday morning instead.
