    Sharon duo shine shine at New England track championships

    Sharon High teammates Jada Johnson and Shira Stoller put on superlative performances at the 73rd New England Interscholastic Outdoor Track & Field Championships Saturday in Durham, N.H.

    A sophomore, Johnson won the high jump at the University of New Hampshire with her leap of 18 feet, 7.25 inches while Stoller, a senior headed to Brown University, heaved the javelin 143 feet, three inches to edge Dracut senio Erica Marriott (140-8).

    In the girls’ 4x100 meter relay, Natick’s quartet of senior Rachelle Parker, junior Abigail Gerdes and sophomores Kylie Lanagan and Mackenzie Burgoyne broke the tape first in 48.74 seconds, just .16 seconds ahead of Windsor, Conn.


    The All-State champion in the discus, Dennis-Yarmouth junior Tiana Bazie set a school record with her throw of 135-5 in the event to place second to Amanda Howe (141-09) of Southington, Conn.

    In the boys’ meet, Newton North’s Andrew Mah continued his dominance of the 2-mile run, capturing his second consecutive win at the New England meet with his time of 9:16.97 finish.

    After setting a personal best (10.70) in the 100-meter dash at All-States, Lowell High sophomore Richmond Kwaateng sprinted to the title in 10.93.

    Oakmont Regional senior John Caouette won the 200 (21.95) after placing fourth at the All-State meet. Shrewsbury won the 4x100 relay with a 42.36 second finish.
