Kenya’s Joan Chelimo repeated as B.A.A. Half Marathon champion Sunday, winning the women’s race in 1:09:34.
Chelimo, who has now won nine half marathons in her career, bested her 2017 time by almost one second and it was her third half marathon win in less than an hour and 10 minutes.
Fellow Kenyan Daniel Chebii won the men’s race in 1:03:08. Chebii is also no stranger to winning Boston road races as he also won the 2016 B.A.A 10k. This marks the fourth consecutive year Kenyans have won both divisions of the race.
Ethiopia’s Gotytom Gebreslase finished second in the women’s race (1:09:39) and Kenyan Monica Ngige finished third (1:09:47).
Tony Nogueira won the men’s wheelchair race in 53:57 and Danvers native Carla Trodella won in the women’s wheelchair division in 3:21.04.
A total of 6,530 athletes participated in the race, which began and ended at White Stadium in Franklin Park as the route looped along the Emerald Necklace. The B.A.A.
