Arlington Cultural District calls for ideas, proposals

Arlington’s newly designated Cultural District is issuing a “call for ideas’’ to seek proposals for art and events within the district. The district spans along Massachusetts Avenue from East Arlington’s Capitol Square to the Civic Block in Arlington Center. The Call For Ideas is open to anyone over the age of 10 who lives, works, or plays in Arlington. According to a town notice, the call seeks to build more interest and excitement in the area on Mass. Ave. specifically from Orvis Street to Avon Place. A key link between neighborhoods and the geographic center of the Cultural District, the open space is ready for new art, events, and ideas, officials say. Details about how to submit ideas, along with the submission form, can be found at arlingtonma.gov/culturaldistrict. Artwork such as sketches, renderings, or 3-D models may be included in submissions. The deadline is July 1. For more information, contact Ali Carter, the town’s economic development coordinator at acarter@town.arlington.ma.us.
