Emerson Hospital in Concord will be hosting a Freedom from Smoking group clinic starting Sept. 18 to help people learn how to overcome tobacco addictions and enjoy the benefits of better health, extra money, and healthier relationships. The Freedom from Smoking clinics were established by the American Lung Association. Participants will learn about lifestyle changes that make quitting easier, medicines that can help stop smoking, preparing for Quit Day, managing stress, avoiding weight gain, developing a new self-image, and learning how to stay smoke-free. The clinics will meet for eight sessions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Emerson Hospital. Classes will be held in the Lovejoy Conference Room, located on the fourth floor of the hospital at 133 Old Road to Nine Acre Corner in Concord. The cost to participate is $100. Smokers age 18 and over who are interested in quitting are welcome to participate.
