New Franklin schools chief takes over

Sara Ahern officially began her job as new superintendent of Franklin’s public schools on July 1. Ahern, who previously served as assistant superintendent in the Holliston public schools, was selected this spring to replace outgoing school chief Maureen Sabolinski, who occupied the role for eight years before retiring at the end of the school year. Ahern, who holds her PhD in educational leadership from Boston College and had served in Holliston since 2011, also previously worked in the Shrewsbury and Lynnfield school districts, including as a science teacher. The town’s School Committee is currently working on a superintendent transition plan. For more information, call the district office at 508-553-4819.
