Everett plans to revamp its municipal website with the help of a $34,419 state grant.
The city was among 45 cities and towns awarded a total of $2 million through the state’s Community Compact IT Grant Program, which helps modernize their technology systems and deliver service to residents more efficiently.
Everett will use the funds to hire a vendor to redesign its website with the goal of making the information it provides more accessible for the public. The project also will result in more content being posted by city departments, and could help the city in applying for additional technology grants.
“We are continuing to move the city of Everett forward in the 21st century and a large part of that is having the current technology to offer our residents a simpler and more convenient way to conduct city-related business, and to make essential municipal information easily available to the public,” Mayor Carlo DeMaria said in a statement.
The city is hoping to update the website this summer.John Laidler can be reached at email@example.com.
