Another high-powered lawyer has filed an appearance on behalf of Robert Kraft as the New England Patriots owner continues fighting misdemeanor prostitution solicitation charges in Florida.
Attorney Sandra Moser, a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of the firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP on Thursday filed a motion to appear pro hac vice on behalf of Kraft in Palm Beach County, where Kraft is charged with two misdemeanor solicitation counts. He’s denied engaging in criminal activity, pleaded not guilty, and requested a jury trial.
A motion to appear pro hac vice is standard procedure for lawyers coming in from out of state to represent a client.
Moser has impressive credentials, serving as co-chair of her firm’s “Investigations, Government Enforcement and White Collar Criminal Defense Practice and Co-Chair of the Crisis Law & Strategy Practice Group,” according to a biography on the Quinn Emanuel website.
Prior to entering private practice, Moser held top positions in the Justice Department.
“Ms. Moser is the former chief of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Fraud Section in Washington, D.C.,” her bio says. “ ... During her tenure at the DOJ, Ms. Moser supervised a team of more than 150 white collar crime prosecutors investigating multinational corporations and their executives, and helped develop and implement significant policy changes affecting corporate criminal enforcement—including concerning the imposition of monitors, incentives for voluntary self-reporting, and the evaluation of compliance programs—throughout the Department.”
According to the bio, Moser also guest lectures “at various academic institutions including Harvard Law and Business Schools, and University of Pennsylvania Law School.”
Another Quinn Emanuel attorney, William A. Burck, who previously served as special counsel and deputy counsel to former President George W. Bush, is also representing Kraft. In addition, the defense team includes Jack A. Goldberger and Alex Spiro.
A hearing on Kraft’s high-stakes motion to suppress video footage that allegedly captures him paying for sex acts at a Jupiter, Fla. spa in January is slated for April 26.Travis Andersen can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow him on Twitter @TAGlobe.
