Worcester man arraigned on murder charge

A Worcester man previously charged with assault and battery in connection with a man’s death last summer has now been charged with his murder, authorities said.

Brayan Flores, 29, was ordered held without bail following his arraignment Tuesday for the death of David Carlson, 53, also of Worcester, according to the Worcester district attorney’s office.

Carlson was found dead in his home last July, prosecutors said in a statement.

Flores was arrested and charged with assault and battery. He was being held on $50,000 bail.

But, on Monday, the state medical examiner’s office determined that Carlson died “of blunt force trauma to the head and neck,” prosecutors said.

Flores was arraigned Tuesday in Worcester District Court on the murder charge. The assault and battery charge was dismissed, the statement said.

Flores is due back in court on March 8.
