Dump truck collision causes delays on Route 24 in Brockton

A car and a dump truck carrying gravel collided on Route 24 south in Brockton Tuesday morning, resulting in significant traffic delays, State Police said.

The vehicles crashed shortly after 8 a.m. near Exit 18, causing the truck to roll over, State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said. The vehicles were moved to the right of the highway after the collision.

By 8:20 a.m., the crash had led to a 1-mile traffic slowdown south on Route 24 and a two-and-a-half-mile slowdown north, Massachusetts Department of Transportation spokeswoman Leah Epstein said. By 11:15 a.m., one lane was closed and traffic had resumed to a “normal” weekday volume.

Both drivers were taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, Procopio said.
