Boston police arrest man for West Roxbury murder

A West Roxbury man was arrested Wednesday and will be charged with murder in the death of a man who was found dead inside his home on Temple Street this past weekend, Boston police said.

The victim, Brian M. Sweeney, 40, of West Roxbury, died from “traumatic injuries,” police said in a statement. The extent of his injuries was undetermined, but a police spokeswoman said he was not shot.

Detectives quickly identified, located, and arrested a suspect, Nathurlon Munnerlyn, 39, also of West Roxbury, on Wednesday, police said. Munnerlyn will be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.

Police did not know if the two men were known to each other before the attack.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans praised detectives for their recent successes in arresting murder suspects.

“Recently, my homicide detectives have been able to build strong cases and swiftly arrest the suspects in several cases, including this one,” he said in the statement. “Although I realize nothing can bring these victims back, I hope, especially going into this holiday season, these arrests can bring some solace and peace to the victims’ families.”

Police do not believe any other suspects are at large, but anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Homicide unit at 617-343-4470.
