Police searching for suspect in beating near Gillette during Patriots-Chiefs game

Foxborough police are searching for a suspect in the beating of a Billerica man Thursday night in Foxborough, near Gillette Stadium during a Patriots game.

The suspect, who was caught on video wearing a silver Tom Brady jersey, is one of three men suspected of beating a 44-year-old Billerica man behind the Rodman Ford dealership on Route 1, around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police said the three suspects were walking from the direction of Walpole on a private paved roadway behind the car dealership when they encountered the victim. The roadway leads to a trail connecting to the Shufelt Road and Beechwood Drive neighborhood in Walpole to Rodman Ford in Foxborough.

The three suspects attacked the victim “for unknown reasons” and fled toward Route 1, leaving the man on the ground, Foxborough police said.

Walpole police officers and State Police troopers on traffic posts in the area were eventually alerted by passers-by that the victim was injured on the ground. The man was transported to a Boston hospital with “serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” Foxborough police said.

Police said the beating appeared to be an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the public.
