A runaway bride with a sense of humor, perhaps?
Billerica police recover a lot of lost property, but this one takes the cake. A wedding dress found in the middle of the road Wednesday night. Bridle Road, no less.
“We recover a lot of lost property. A lot of wallets and rings, stuff like that,” said Billerica Deputy Police Chief Roy Frost. “Never a wedding dress though. It’s very strange.”
Police got a call about the forsaken dress around 6:45 p.m. It hadn’t been in the road long, Frost said.
“It may have been hit by a car or two,” he said. “But, for the most part, it’s in good shape.”
A size 4 from David’s Bridal, the dress is valued at $600. Frost said he did not believe it was thrown away on purpose (dashing the runaway bride theory).
“You can tell that someone took care of this,” he said. “It doesn’t look like something that you would just throw away,” Frost said.
Police asked the owner to call them at 978-667-1212. Even if she no longer has any need for it.
“We’d love to return the dress to the owner if they’d like that,” he said. “If not, that’s fine too.”Andrew Grant can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
