Letters to the editor of the Globe Magazine

Readers share their thoughts on the Summer Living issue and house makeovers.

Loved your Summer Living issue (June 18), especially the beautiful beach houses.

Ellie Johnson / Maynard

I always enjoy seeing the beautiful homes and rooms featured, but how about something for the rest of us? Why don’t you feature redecorated rental homes/apartments or a redecorated little condo that would excite those of us who cannot afford interior designers or architects?

Stacey Betts / Webster

Kudos to the [homeowners] for working with the existing building rather than tearing down [“A Cottage Built for Two,” June 18]. I’m a fan of color and coziness, but I can see the beauty in this design, so light and airy.

This [renovation] does not integrate with the traditional Cape Cod aesthetic at all — it seems like the homeowners stripped out the soul of the property and rammed a Manhattan interior into it. . . . [I]t’s a whitewashing of the original property which does nothing to celebrate the unique and charming cottage culture of the Cape. . . . I’m just not a fan!
