WBUR turned the popular New York Times column “Modern Love” into a podcast back in 2016, calling upon celebrities to lend their voices to the stories of “love, loss, and redemption” that have left us tearing up on the Red Line at times.

William Jackson Harper, who plays Chidi on the NBC comedy “The Good Place,” was in town Saturday to record an episode of the podcast with host Meghna Chakrabarti at the Huntington Avenue Theatre in front of a sold-out audience.

Harper also read a story about a tiny creature that teaches the other animals and birds to appreciate being different, which will air Tuesday on “Circle Round.”

Kate Winslet, Uma Thurman, Sandra Oh, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sterling K. Brown, and Harper’s “The Good Place” love interest, Kristen Bell, have all recorded episodes of the podcast.
