The Rodman for Kids 16th annual Celebration for Kids gala raised more than $1 million on Saturday, and proceeds from the event will go to youth organizations throughout Massachusetts.
An estimated 2,500 people attended the fund-raiser, which was held at the Seaport World Trade Center, including chef-restaurateur Paul Wahlberg, Police Commissioner William Gross, auctioneer Charlie Bailey Gates, and WCVB journalist Janet Wu, who emceed the evening.
More than 60 local restaurants participated with tastings, along with a beer and wine bar. The Blue Man Group and the World Premiere Band both performed. In addition to the entertainment, partygoers took part in silent and live auctions, bidding on everything from gift certificates to a weeklong stay in a Nantucket cottage.
