If all goes according to plan, you’ll be seeing some new projects from “SMILF” actress and creator Frankie Shaw in the near future.

Shaw, who currently stars in the Southie-set Showtime dramedy, inked a two-year overall deal with ABC Signature Studios to develop cable and broadcast projects for the ABC Studios division, per Variety.

“During the journey of developing and producing ‘SMILF’ with Frankie it quickly became clear that we wanted an ongoing partnership to help build out her company, brand and vision,” ABC Signature Studios VP Tracy Underwood told Variety. “She’s such a brilliant artist with a singular point of view while also proving to be an ambitious, taste making producer.”

The deal will allow Shaw, who was born in Boston and raised in Brookline, to “incubate small projects and films as proofs-of-concept for series,” according to Variety. The process will likely be similar to “SMILF,” which began as a short film before being picked up to series.

“ABC Signature has been an incredible partner in bringing ‘SMILF’ to life and I’m so excited to take our relationship to the next level,” Shaw told Variety. “I’m even more grateful for their support in creating a space for new and diverse storytellers.”

Despite pushback from South Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn, who said this past February in a Facebook post that “SMILF” “degrades Boston women,” season two of the show was scheduled to film scenes in Boston last week.
