The Fuller Craft Museum didn’t have to look far for its new executive director. The Brockton museum’s board of directors has named Denise Lebica as director, a position she’s held on an interim basis since former director Jonathan Fairbanks announced his retirement last July.
Lebica, who had served as deputy director of Fuller Craft since 2014, had previously worked at the Children’s Museum of Dartmouth, in the Clothing and Textiles Department at Plimoth Plantation, the Mass Audubon Society/Trailside Museum, and the Huntington Theatre Company. Most immediately, according to the board, Lebica will assume responsibility for the strategic direction of Fuller Craft Museum, and the execution of the strategic plan she proved instrumental in developing.
Fairbanks, who was in his 80s when he stepped down, was a decorative arts and sculpture expert who is credited with putting Fuller Craft on more solid financial footing and expanding its programming and collection. In honor of his contributions, the top job title will be the Jonathan Leo Fairbanks Executive Director.
