That biopic about Bobbi Kristina Brown? It may not air after all.
Turns out Bobby Brown and his late daughter’s estate are both trying to block the movie, which was supposed to debut on TV One Oct. 8. The New York Post reports that Brown, who grew up in Roxbury, has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Manhattan alleging that the film is “defamatory and untrue” as it relates to his treatment of his daughter. The Post says Brown is seeking $1 million in damages from the producers.
The only child of Brown and Whitney Houston, Bobbi Kristina was 22 when she died in 2015, several months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her home in suburban Atlanta. The circumstances were similar to the death of her mother, who, three years before, accidentally drowned in a bathtub in Beverly Hills.
The movie stars “Stuck in the Middle” actress Joy Rovaris as Bobbi Kristina, Hassan Johnson of “The Wire” as Brown, and “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” actress Demetria McKinney as Houston.
