Signs of spring: The SoWa Open Market (460-540 Harrison Ave.) returns on Sunday, May 5, kicking off its 16th year. There will be the usual delightful assortment of stalls helmed by local artisans, plus a beer garden and food trucks. Each Sunday, a different local brewer will commandeer the taps for the day: Fiddlehead, SingleCut, Banded, Finback, and more. There are also wine pop-ups and an Oktoberfest party in the works. As usual, you can play lawn games and listen to live music while you sip.
And, yes, there’s also a tasty food-truck lineup: Blackbird Doughnuts, Bon Me, Daddy’s Bonetown Burgers, Moyzilla, Picco, the Chubby Chickpea, and many more. Local organizations will host special events, too, like performances by Urbanity Dance, interactive painting with Artists for Humanity, and a book swap hosted by the nonprofit More Than Words. Best of all? SoWa is pet-friendly — and completely free (until you buy something, that is).
Visit on Sundays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Check out the lineup at www.sowaboston.com.Kara Baskin can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
