It’s like the Super Bowl for fans of the royal family — and of fairytale weddings.
The Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel is hosting a sold-out Royal Wedding Viewing Party and Breakfast bright and early Saturday morning, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say their vows at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
The Boston breakfast — for 264 guests — sounds like it will be quite a spread.
The wedding will be streamed live from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. on three large screens inside the hotel. A champagne toast will take place at 8 a.m. as the royal couple takes a horse-drawn carriage ride through the streets of the picturesque English town of Windsor.
Guests at the viewing party will feel as if they really are across the pond, as two “royal guards” in costume will welcome them into the ballroom. Partygoers can also take photos with a red telephone booth and life-sized cardboard cutouts of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Her Majesty the Queen.
“Prince Charles attended a reception in our ballroom during his first trip to the city in 1986,” said Lauren Soriano, director of public relations at Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, which has partnered with Boston Wedding for the bash. “It is only fitting that we invite the community inside to commemorate the nuptials of his son in the very same place he once visited.”
Guests will enjoy a full English breakfast, tea, scones, and several British libations. Oh, and wedding cake, of course. Here are the spoils of the royal wedding viewing party, by the numbers:
