Mike Bentley will be the new head of advertising for Boston Globe Media, the news publisher announced Friday. Bentley had held several positions in the company’s digital sales operations, and was most recently vice president for revenue operations.
“Mike has what we need in a sales leader, a passion for our ability to deliver results for brands and a desire to continue to develop new effective channels for advertisers,” Boston Globe Media president Vinay Mehra said in a note to staff.
As with most media publications, digital advertising has become an increasingly crucial cornerstone of the Boston Globe’s business. Mehra pledged to “invest in new products and technologies that fuel our growth while reducing costs in less profitable areas of our business.”
Mehra also disclosed that Peter Doucette, who as chief consumer revenue officer led the Boston Globe’s circulation efforts for years, will be leaving the company later in June.
“I move on knowing that as a major metro publisher, we have built the absolute best digital subscription business in the industry,” Doucette said in the staff note.
