There’s no escape from Fox’s series reboots

The news that Fox is actually planning to bring back “Prison Break” in some form makes me feel a little sorry for Fox. Really? Has it comes to the point where the network has little more up its sleeve than to continue bringing back the likes of “The X-Files,” “24,” shows featuring Gordon Ramsay, and “Prison Break,” shows that were long in the tooth long before they ended for the first time?

This week at TCA press tour, Fox’s president of entertainment Michael Thorn told the press, “We’re developing a new iteration of ‘Prison Break.’ We’re really excited. We’ll be happy to share when we have more. We definitely have one in development.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the return will not be built around a new cast, in the manner of the last season of “24.” Some if not all of the same characters will be back — it’s too soon to know exactly who, but Thorn said that he expects both Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller to be on the list. Originally, “Prison Break” aired from 2005 to 2009, and then a fifth season aired in 2017.
