Maggie Smith is on a long list of returning cast members.

The “Downton Abbey” movie has a release date, which is Sept. 20, 2019. It has a writer, Julian Fellowes, and a director, Michael Engler. And, increasingly, it has a cast, a large cast.

It is my duty as the enabler of “Downton” addicts to announce that Max Brown, from “The Royals” and “The Tudors,” has just joined up. He’s a new cast member, and he’ll play an as-yet undisclosed role. He joins other newcomers to the “Downton” story, including already-signed Imelda Staunton, Geraldine James, Simon Jones, David Haig, Tuppence Middleton, Kate Phillips, and Stephen Campbell Moore.

The central characters will of course be played by the returning cast, which includes Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Harry Hadden-Paton, Robert James-Collier, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Lesley Nicol, and Penelope Wilton.

Oh right, and Maggie Smith.
