A few years ago, after the premiere of “The Good Wife,” Archie Panjabi broke out. She was admired for her cool and her grace, and her bisexual character, Kalinda, was admired for conducting rogue investigations that often bled into the personal. Panjabi won a best supporting actress Emmy for her first season on the show.
But Kalinda fever faded fast, since “The Good Wife” writers didn’t quite know what to do with her. The character and the actress drifted to the background of the show, amid reports of a battle with star Julianna Margulies. It was all too bad.
Now NBC has come up with a show for Panjabi, another legal drama. The still-untitled show would feature the British actress as an LA attorney who moves to America’s heartland, Wisconsin, where she feels out of place. Fingers crossed. The project is from Alex Berger, whose credits include “Blindspot” (on which Panjabi appeared) and “The Mentalist.”Matthew Gilbert can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
