A lot of readers ask about “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” which showed up on Amazon for eight episodes last year and then dropped out of sight.
Just so you know, the series — which is better than its awful, clunky title — is indeed coming back. About an Upper West Side housewife who goes into standup when her marriage falls apart, the dramedy has been renewed for two more seasons. Looks like season 2, due later this year, and season 3 will both have 10 episodes.
I enjoyed the first season of “Mrs. Maisel,” which felt like a long introduction and setup for the rest of the run. It’s a lighthearted show, and it captures something amusing and sweet about being Jewish in New York in the 1950s. As Mrs. Maisel, Rachel Brosnahan is both dramatically engaging and funny. Also, since the show is from Amy Sherman-Palladino, creator of “Gilmore Girls,” she talks fast really well.Matthew Gilbert can be reached at email@example.com. Follow him on Twitter @MatthewGilbert.
