Not long ago, I wrote about Michelle Wolf, on the occasion of her upcoming talk show. The comic, a correspondent on “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah,” is joining David Letterman and Joel McHale as a Netflix chatter later this year.
Now comes news that Wolf, whose first stand-up special was “Nice Lady” on HBO, will be the featured entertainer at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. The high-profile event, previously hosted by Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, and Larry Wilmore, among others, will take place on April 28.
No doubt Wolf will speak comic truths to power, but whether power — President Trump — will be in the house is a different matter. Trump did not attend the dinner last year, and it’s not clear yet if he’ll come this year.Matthew Gilbert can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow him on Twitter @MatthewGilbert.
